Michelle Keegan confirms she’ll return as Georgie Lane in BBC’s Our Girl as she teases details for season four

The TV star, 31, will be back as Georgie Lane in six brand new episodes.

Speaking of returning to the small screen, Michelle said: ‘Being in Our Girl has been one of the highlights of my career so far.

‘I feel very lucky to be part of the show and I’m really excited that it’s coming back.

Having been promoted to sergeant and now training a new batch of medics, Georgie is insisted to her friends that she’s happily settled in her new job and will not be joining them on their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan no matter how much they want her to.

However, when a night on the town results in a near-fatal incident, Georgie can’t deny that the painful memories of losing the love of her life, Elvis, to a Taliban attack is the real reason she doesn’t want to go back.

She realises that she needs to return to Afghanistan to face her own fears.

Tony Grounds, writer and creator, said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted that Michelle Keegan will be reprising her role as Georgie Lane for another tour of Our Girl.

‘2 Section are deployed to Afghanistan as part of NATO’s Resolute Support Mission to develop the military capability of the Afghanistan government’s armed forces.

‘But with the Taliban controlling large swathes of the country and Georgie Lane’s haunting memories of Elvis lost last time she was in the country, this mission was never going to be easy.’

Filming for series four will begin in April in South Africa and will last for four months.

Michelle’s husband, former TOWIE star Mark Wright, is currently based in America where he presents on US entertainment show Extra.

The reality star was previously said to be considering returning to the UK to focus on work at home as well as to start a family with Michelle.

However, a spokesperson for Mark told the MailOnline the reality star-turn-presenter had no plans to quit his lucrative job in the States to have children.

It comes following reports the Essex star wants to return to his hometown and focus on work opportunities based in the UK instead.

Mark and Michelle tied the knot at Hengrave Hall in Suffolk in May 2015.

The couple have been together for six years after meeting on separate holidays in Dubai in late 2012.
